Session Recordings with Behavee

Are you stuck, looking for a solution in optimizing your website to achieve maximum user-friendliness? Stop guessing your users' needs and receive insights to navigate your website. Get familiar with this smart tool – Session Recording, also known as session replays or user recordings. Learn about your visitors' journey across your website. Record and track your visitors mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, page changes and all interactions on your website.

Understand their expectations and discover issues they face on your website.

Before you start setting up session recordings, be mindful of what you wish to monitor, or any suspicions you want to verify through the recordings (how quickly can customers find the information they’re looking for, or how the page affects them, etc.)

Setting up Session Recording

The setting is even easier than setting up heatmaps.

Did you know...

...that Session Recordings can show you data, based on your selected segment?

Campaign name

Select a name to recognize the recording in your reports.

Number of recordings

The number of visitors for session recordings. Usually about 1 000 is sufficient. However, if you have only one landing page with all the information, select a higher number of impressions. Simply put, the more traffic, the more impressions.

Landing page

Enter here the URL of the page you want to track. You can decide on the landing page rules, depending on your needs.

We recommend using a URL Validator to verify that the activity on the URL will be recorded. Copy the URL from the browser so that the URL, including the network protocol is inserted.

E.g., You can track the customers path from order to payment. Set-up the tracking for each page separately. The settings depend on the position of your website (according to the URL address). If necessary, you can choose for the URL to equalprecisely or to start with...

If your URL is unique for each customer, e.g., https://www.behavee.com/123456/basket, you can set the rules the following way:

Sampling frequency

Indicates the number of visitors you want to record.

If you choose 100%, all visitors that visit the selected landing page will be recorded (we recommend, about 20 people per day with very low traffic). For instance, if you select 10%, every 10th visitor will be recorded. We suggest setting the sampling frequency to collect data for at least 35 days, if possible.

Example: You have a higher number of visitors, e.g., 2 500 visitors and you want to collect samples for 4 days:

  • You have about 1 000 visitors in 4 days

  • The number of impressions is set to 2 000

  • Sampling frequency to 20%

Minimum session duration

Each session will only be recorded If the visitor has spent at least a defined amount of time on the page.

Creating a new session recording

You can upload several recordings, depending on the pages you want to track. Bear in mind that collecting a sufficient amount of data can take days or weeks, according to the traffic on your website.

How to work with collected samples

Uploaded sessions can be filtered by your own set of segments or by pre-set filters – time spent on the page, the user’s location, device they came from, operating system, or their browser.

If you need advice regarding evaluating the data, we are happy to provide you a consultation.

Note: If you make any changes on any page of your online store, don’t forget to setup a new session recording. Otherwise, the collected samples won’t be relevant.

Any session with the required amount of collected data will be deleted in 3 months, or you can delete it yourself, if you no longer use it.

All analytical tools, including session recordings are included in the Tools package. You can share access with your colleagues, staff, or externalists.
